Like he has done throughout his career as a billionaire real estate developer and businessman, Donald Trump, ex-president, is playing his cards close to his vest as to whether he will attempt to become our next president.

It’s not like Trump hasn’t been asked six ways to Sunday every time he makes an interview appearance. Conservative pundit and author Dan Bongino, who took over the late Rush Limbaugh’s coveted noon-3 p.m. EDT weekday spot on Monday, asked the former president, who was his guest, if he planned on jumping in next time around. And of course, the answer was a ‘definitely maybe.

Ditto Tuesday night when Trump appeared as a guest on Newsmax TV’s newest primetime offering, “Cortez & Pellegrino.”

Most generally the answer from the former president and his surrogates has been to take a ‘wait and see’ approach pending the results of the 2022 elections; should Republicans retake the House and perhaps the Senate, then that might make Trump’s decision to mount a comeback in 2024 more likely.

There is also this consideration: Would the so-called ‘powerbrokers’ in D.C. who organized the effort to deny Trump reelection by intervening to bypass state election laws spring back into action to prevent a second Trump term? And is Trump keenly aware of that potentiality?

They probably would and he probably is, but then again, Trump doesn’t back down from challenges, he meets and defeats them, generally speaking.

So that brings us back full circle to the original question: Is he in or not?

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, thinks the answer is ‘yes, he’s in.’

Both he and Mark Meadows, Trump’s former White House chief of staff and GOP lawmaker from North Carolina, appeared on Sean Hannity’s program Tuesday evening to discuss the issue.

“Both of you are close to the former President. Is Donald Trump running for President?” asked Hannity.

“Yeah, I think he is,” said Jordan. “Every time I speak to him he says that he wants to run. He plans to run I think. I certainly hope he does. No president has done more of what he said he would do than President Trump. Best President we’ve ever had.”

“From Russia hoax to impeachment, we’re still seeing it in New York City. The American people want him to run, I believe he’ll run,” added Mark Meadows.

Trump has a gauntlet of issues facing him in the meantime, however. Not the least of these, by the way, are predatory prosecutors in New York and Georgia who are aching to indict him for something and who currently either have active investigations against him and his companies or, in the case of Manhattan prosecutor Cyrus Vance Jr., have already convened a grand jury to look at ‘evidence.’

Nevertheless, there are other indications that Trump plans to make a third go for a second term, as noted by Politico:

Acid wash jeans, scrunchies, and… Newt Gingrich. Fashion from the ’90s is having a comeback, and so too is the ’90s Republican playbook for how to win back congressional majorities.

With an eye toward winning back the House and Senate in the 2022 midterm elections, former President Donald Trump has begun crafting a policy agenda outlining a MAGA doctrine for the party. His template is the 1994 “Contract with America,” a legislative agenda released ahead of the midterm elections in the middle of President Bill Clinton’s first term. And, as a cherry on top, he’s teaming up with its main architect — Gingrich — to do it.

In recent weeks, Trump sat down with the former House speaker as well as his former chief of staff Mark Meadows and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) at his private Mar-a-Lago club to begin crafting the document, according to a source familiar with the meeting.
